Ianina Cozari

My Project

“Art Reporter” is a news website dedicated to the culture of Belgium produced by me, Ianina Cozari, a professional journalist fluent in both Russian and English. I am a philologist with a master degree from the Moldavian State University on “Russian language and literature,” representing the third generation of my family in this field.

I began studying English at the age of 7 and underwent an internship in 2005 at the renowned Missouri School of Journalism in the USA, which not only expanded my professional horizons but also equipped me with the skills of a “versatile journalist.” I am adept at photography and videography, conducting interviews, writing texts, and performing photo and video editing.

The name “Art Reporter” stems from my experience since 1998 on television (“NIT” and “TV-7 Moldova”), where I created the original program “Diplomatic Courier,” hosted live broadcasts, with a consistent focus on News. My favorite writers are A. Chekhov and Guy de Maupassant, and my preferred journalistic genre is “news reportage.” My current job profile is art reprorter.”

My Belgium

Since 2006, I have been residing in Belgium and writing about its culture. My initial visit to Brussels in 1998 was as a journalist during a NATO headquarters visit. From the first glance, I fell in love with this country at the intersection of two civilizations – Roman and Anglo-Saxon. This unique cultural symbiosis grants Belgium vibrant competitive and cultural advantages. The French and Dutch languages complement each other, enriching global culture both in literary and visual heritage.

In the past decade, Belgium has emerged as a key European hub for the development of contemporary art, a realm I particularly favor. The country hosts numerous international art, music, and theater festivals. This is a country with not only a rich cultural past, but also an active engagement in the vibrant current trends of the present. For a decade, I have been accredited in the European Parliament and European Commission as a correspondent for Moldova’s television channels, where I was born and raised, and European integration holds great importance to me. I am a “Euro-anti-sceptic,” and a part of my materials is dedicated to European Union matters, as I am a citizen thereof.

Since 2014, I have been a board member of the Brussels Press Club. I firmly believe that collegiality and membership in professional unions are crucial for every journalist.

My mission

My aim is to share art news and my knowledge with my viewers and readers. I’m an admirer of Architecture and Art Nouveau in particular. Belgium is the capital of Art Nouveau . I always emphasize the “genius loci” (lat) in my reports. My focus is on uncovering hidden architectural gems of Antwerp, Brussels, Bruges, and Ghent. I love the Kingdom of Belgium.
